Supporting victims of crime in Victoria.

If you’ve experienced a violent crime in Victoria, you may be eligible for support through the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). FAS provides financial help when compensation isn’t available from the offender or other sources, so you can focus on your recovery.

What is the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)?

The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) provides support to victims of violent crime in Victoria when compensation isn’t available from the offender or other sources.

You may be eligible if you are:

A primary victim: injured as a result of a violent crime.

A secondary victim: injured while witnessing a crime or as a parent/guardian of a child victim.

A related victim: close family, dependants, or partners of someone who died due to a violent crime.

We can guide you through the process and help you understand your eligibility so you can access the support you need.

How to apply

Applying is free and can be completed online through the Financial Assistance Scheme. We can act as your authorised representative, guiding you through the process and ensuring all required documents are submitted correctly.

You won’t need to pay legal costs directly. If your application is successful, the Tribunal covers reasonable legal costs and pays these to our firm.

If you were a victim of a crime involving a motor vehicle (such as a car, bus, train, tram, motorcycle) or while at work, you may be eligible to lodge a concurrent TAC claim or WorkCover claim for support and compensation. Talk to us about how to do this.

"My family and I cannot thank you enough for the long term support that we received. Caroline and her team walked every step with us, assisting and giving options to make things clearer and understandable. We felt the genuine sense of care and loyalty.

If I could give 10 stars I would, if you are looking for a professional, caring, relatable Lawyer - this is the team for you. They are life changing, and the willingness to go over and above. We couldn’t rate this team high enough."
